Victims of Political Repression Honored
September 10 is the Day of Remembrance for Victims of Political Persecution. First observed in 1996, the day is dedicated to honoring those who suffered and lost their lives during political purges. This year, a delegation led by Deputy Speakers of Parliament Kh.Bulgantuya and B.Purevdorj laid flowers at the memorial to the victims.
Historical records show that beginning in 1937, around 30,000 people were executed in the span of just two years. Among them, nearly 18,000 60%) were Buddhist monks, and more than 1,000 monasteries and temples were destroyed.
