UNICEF Gala Raises $740,000 for Newborn Health in Mongolia
UNICEF Mongolia took a major step forward in advancing newborn screening with a successful fundraising gala organized by UNICEF Health Ambassador Mrs. Tselmuun Nyamtaishir and her husband, Mr. Battushig Batbold. Held on September 12th at the Ayan Zalaat Hotel & Resort, the event raised 2.5 billion MNT (approx. USD 740,000), surpassing its target.
The funds will introduce Tandem Mass Spectrometry technology to Mongolia, enabling early detection of 25–30 metabolic disorders in newborns, ensuring timely diagnosis and treatment.
Mrs. Tselmuun shared her personal connection to the cause, as their premature daughter inspired their commitment to children’s health. The gala also featured a signed Cristiano Ronaldo jersey auctioned by Mr. Batbold, highlighting the intersection of sports and philanthropy.
