Ulaanbaatar to Build 78 km of New Bike Lanes in 2026

Ulaanbaatar City has set an ambitious goal to build 1,677 km of bicycle lanes by 2040. At present, the city has 101.7 km of bike lanes in operation.

As part of this long-term plan, 78 km of new bicycle lanes will be constructed next year, and the total will reach 253 km by 2028. The longest new sections will be built in Bayanzurkh District (28.2 km) and Bayangol District (18.74 km).

For reference, Ulaanbaatar opened 54.2 km of new bicycle lanes in 2025, marking a significant step toward creating a more bicycle-friendly city.
