Top Cop Removed, Tax Chief Fired
Following Enkhbayar’s appointment as Minister of Justice and Home Affairs, the Cabinet convened an emergency meeting and made several new appointments, beginning with the dismissal of Police Commissioner General T.Sukhbold, who had led the agency since September 2023. He had only recently been promoted to Brigadier General.
The new minister announced on social media that former Speaker D.Amarbayasgalan has been charged under the Criminal Code’s section on corruption-related offenses.
Former commissioner Major General J.Bold, who led the National Police Agency from 2020 to 2023 and later served as an adviser to the Prime Minister, has been reappointed.

The Cabinet also dismissed Ch.Chimedtsuren, head of the General Tax Authority (GTA). Formerly a director at the Ministry of Finance,
he had been appointed in January 2024.
Chimedtsuren had earlier issued a document stating that the “Resolution No. 55,” which calculates the Mineral Royalty Tax (AMNAT) based on stock exchange prices, would reduce budget revenues -
one of the arguments used in Parliament to justify the prime minister’s removal.

He will be replaced by S.Tugsjargal, head of the GTA’s Large Taxpayers Department.
