Mongolia’s top Counter-Strike 2 team, The Mongolz, claimed victory at the Esports World Cup held in Saudi Arabia. In the semifinals, they defeated the world’s No. 1 team, Team Vitality, and went on to sweep Turkey’s Aurora in the finals, securing the $500,000 prize.

The tournament’s MVP (Most Valuable Player) title went to “Techno4K” (M.Sodbayar).

This marks a historic milestone in Mongolian esports. Until now, The Mongolz had never won a tournament of this scale. Just this past June, they reached the finals of the Austin Major, the biggest CS2 competition, finishing in second place.

The Esports World Cup is one of the largest and most prestigious tournaments in competitive gaming. First organized in 2024, it spans 25 different game titles, where clubs compete to collect points across categories. The total prize pool amounts to $71.5 million, with the overall top-performing esports organization set to take home $27 million. Last year, Saudi Arabia’s Team Falcons earned the title of best-performing organization.

They are now ranked 3rd in the world by HLTV, a historic achievement not only for Mongolia but also for an Asian team.
