Thanks to CHIP, 1,385 Households Will Reduce Reliance on Coal Heating
Since 2019, UNICEF has been implementing the CHIP project, which introduces the “Mongolian Ger Insulation, Heating and Ventilation Package” to reduce reliance on coal-based heating and improve warmth and air quality.
This year, in partnership with the capital city, the project will cover 1,385 households living in traditional gers. Ulaanbaatar also plans to insulate about 5,000 homes to full standards starting this year, with the long-term goal of transitioning to gas-based heating.
