Deirdre Lingenfelder, who has led Oyu Tolgoi LLC for the past three years, will step down from her position on December 9, 2025. Her duties will be temporarily assumed by the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Andrew Laya. Official sources confirmed that the search for a new chief executive is already underway.

Lingenfelder, the first woman ever appointed CEO of Oyu Tolgoi, previously served as Vice President for Copper and Diamonds at Rio Tinto before coming to Mongolia. Under her leadership, the company successfully launched its underground mine, and production has reached record levels.
