More Than 300 People Summoned to the “Oyu Tolgoi Hearing”

A temporary parliamentary committee led by MP O.Batnairamdal, officially titled the “Temporary Committee to Oversee Documents and Activities Related to Ensuring Mongolia’s Interests and Increasing National Benefits in the Use of the Oyu Tolgoi Deposit”, will hold an open hearing from the 8th to the 12th of next month.

A total of 301 people have been summoned as witnesses. They include officials who have made decisions or served on working groups related to the Oyu Tolgoi project since 2006. Among them are three former Presidents of Mongolia, seven former Prime Ministers, and thirty-nine former Members of Parliament. Senior officials from the relevant ministries, as well as past and present executives of Rio Tinto, Oyu Tolgoi, and Erdenes Mongol LLC, have also been called to testify.
