Mongolia’s Coal Giant Achieves Highest Monthly Sales

In September, Erdenes Tavantolgoi JSC sold 3.2 million tons of coal, marking the highest monthly sales in the company’s history. This record was achieved following the opening of a new mine in the Tsankhi area, which enabled the company to sell high-quality coking coal at international market prices.

In July, the Government of Mongolia placed the company under special supervision and appointed a delegated management team. The team has now reported the results of its three-month operation.

  • After a temporary halt, exchange trading has resumed, with 75 successful trading sessions completed. The company generated a total revenue of $513.8 million.
  • The company resolved delays in coal transport contracts, increasing the transport flow by 1.8 times.
  • The company improved its equipment readiness from 56 percent to 81 percent.
  • A medium-term strategy for 2026–2029 has been developed.
  • Efforts have begun to enter third-country markets, including Japan, South Korea, and India.
