The National Agency for Meteorology and Environmental Monitoring has introduced a new supercomputer that will significantly improve forecasting capabilities. With this technology, Mongolia will be able to deliver weather predictions up to 10 days in advance with a resolution of 2.5 kilometers, as well as project the long-term effects of climate change over 30 to 100 years. The new system is equipped with 3,072 processors, 2 petabytes of storage, and a computing speed of 96 teraflops. It is 16 times more powerful than the Cray XE6 model that had been in use since 2011.
