Mongolia Forms New Agency to Fight Drug
In response to the growing use of narcotics in society, authorities have established an independent agency to combat drugs. Previously, the responsibility had been handled by a division within the General Police Department, but it will now function as a standalone body.
In the first half of this year alone, 112 drug-related crimes were recorded, with 97 individuals charged as suspects. This represents a 4.5 percent increase compared with the same period last year. Alarmingly, 51 percent of those implicated in drug crimes are young people between the ages of 13 and 25.
