Four Medals for Mongolia in Zagreb
At the World Wrestling Championships in Zagreb, Croatia, Mongolian athletes claimed one silver and three bronze medals.
In the men’s 70kg division, State Honored Athlete T.Tulga defeated wrestlers from Moldova, Bulgaria, Georgia, and Kazakhstan to reach the final, where he fell to Japan’s Y.Aoyagi to secure silver. Previously a bronze medalist at the World Championships, Tulga’s latest achievement marks Mongolia’s 29th silver medal in world wrestling history.
In the women’s 59kg category, International Master of Sports T.Altjin overcame opponents from Kazakhstan, Germany, and Russia before losing in the semifinals to a Japanese wrestler, earning bronze. In the women’s 65kg class, International Master of Sports T.Enkhjin won bronze after victories against Chile and India, and a decisive win against U.S. wrestler M.Kylie, a former world medalist.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 62kg division, State Honored Athlete P.Orkhon also secured bronze by defeating wrestlers from Russia, the United States, and Nigeria. A former world champion in 2017, Orkhon’s medal brings Mongolia’s total in women’s world wrestling championships to 37.
